This clay class is in collaboration with Suze’s PCA production, “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” which is set in LaGrange, Texas on The Chicken Ranch. Times grew harder during the Depression and the Ranch adopted the “poultry standard” as a payment method and soon chickens were everywhere. The meat and the eggs provided the household with plenty of food and extra income. The brothel was listed on the tax rolls as a poultry farm.

Our instructor is Murvel Ray, an accomplished potter and clay artist. You will learn basic hand-building processes and choose from various projects he has designed that incorporate pinch, coil, and slab techniques. When the weather gets warm, you might even throw on a pottery wheel outside in the back parking lot area near the studio.

Experience education and creativity in a variety of disciplines at Suze’s PCA!

Classes and workshops at Suze’s Prescott Center for the Arts offer a professional, enjoyable experience that provides inspiration and information to distill and practice for months and even years afterward. Classes and workshops appeal to all levels of students and are presented through demonstrations, individual instruction, group presentations, and hands-on practice.

Scholarship funds may be available for those who would benefit and have need.

    WITHDRAWALS & CANCELLATIONS

    Cancelations of class registrations that occur prior to five (5) business days from the start of a class, camp, or workshop will be eligible for a full refund of payment. Cancelations within five (5) days will be eligible for an account credit. Cancelations within 48 hours of the start of a program will forfeit all class fees. Account credits may be used for classes, camps, or workshops at Suze’s PCA. Visiting productions and events that are not sole programs of Suze’s PCA are not eligible for the use of account credit. Withdrawal from a class, camp, or workshop after it has started will not result in a refund or class credit. Extreme cases will be considered. Absences will not be subject to refund for credit of pro-rated fees.
